The APMP is considered to be the benchmark project management qualification throughout the profession and it is the most popular. Our current calendar has between 4 and 5 courses being run each month.
This, the newest version of the course, is four days and then the exam is a week later.
You will receive, in advance of attending the four day course, a copy of the APM Body of Knowledge (BoK) and APMP for PRINCE2 Practitioners. Time invested in getting to know these materials at this stage is essential.
More experienced project managers attending this course are often caught out by thinking that they know all this already, but be warned unless you have used a structured approach, involving the use of recognised tools and techniques - you may not yet have the depth needed.
But having said all of the above you are provided with a great deal of support throughout what will be a two week period; firstly there is the four day course, where you will in effect manage a case study project from start to finish. Secondly between finishing the course and taking the exam you receive online and email support from the tutor.
If you are thinking about this course, you will find it challenging, but very rewarding when you pass - and we have a lot that do! Download the following pieces of information;

APMP Project ManagemenT FOR PRINCE2® PRACTITIONERS
APMP (IPMA Level D) is a knowledge based qualification. Successful candidates are able to participate in projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects. APMP is a qualification recognised both nationally and internationally that successful candidates can carry from one job to another or from one industry to another.
APMP is aimed at project managers and aspiring project managers who wish to demonstrate their knowledge of project management at a foundation level. This version of the APMP covers 25 knowledge areas from the APM Body of Knowledge. Knowledge of these areas is considered fundamental to the professional management of projects.
What is assessed?
This new approach for the APMP assessment involves a reduced two hour written essay-based paper, rather than the standard APMP three hour written paper.
APMP assesses the candidate’s breadth of knowledge in all areas of project management, from strategic and commercial implications, to the technical, organisational, and people management skills required to participate effectively within a project team.
If you are a current PRINCE2® Practitioner then you have probably heard of Graham Williams. He is author of the book APMP for PRINCE2® Practitioners and the presenter of Edison's Learning in a Box version of the course.
Graham is a PRINCE2® learning specialist, hear his experience and how he describes the relationships between these two qualifications and the benefits of gaining the APMP qualification.

Edison's unique process based approach to learning means that the focus is on application of learned techniques rather than just theory. On completion of Edison's APMP, candidates are then ready for the Practitioner Qualification with the very minimum of additional preparation.
The learning methodologies used by
Edison's Fusion approach readies
all learners to embrace change and
increase flexibility. Two critical
factors heighten the success of the
Fusion approach, firstly; the method
of delivery which uses the most
experienced presenters who fully
understand the psychology of
learning. Edison ensure that all
trainers spend at least 50% of their
time working in the field, actually
using the tools and techniques,
being presented, to maximum effect.
Secondly; the advanced presentation
materials ensure the maximum
level of interaction, all materials
have been developed to maximise
the impact of the learning. Our standards of learning are high,
we practice what we preach, our learning has been tested by some
of the worlds top organisations. You
can therefore be sure of a consistent
high standard and best practice
processes.
Our approach to learning considers
the step-by-step procedures that
make up a process, procedural
learning with process learning
fosters a greater understanding of
where and how the details fit into
the overall big picture. This consolidated
approach has been shown to
lead to a higher degree of exam
success, compared to more traditional
learning methodology.
