REGISTERED PROJECT PROFESSIONAL
We no longer provide support for Certificated Project Manager and would recommend candidates opt for the APM Registered Project Professional (RPP) standard. RPP is a pan-sector standard for those able to demonstrate the capabilities of a responsible leader, who have the ability to manage a complex project and use appropriate tools, processes and techniques.
Why become an APM Registered Project Professional?
There is a growing recognition of the value that competent and capable project professionals can offer. APM Registered Project Professional sets project professionals apart through a robust assessment of the APM 5 Dimensions of Professionalism. Successful candidates will be entered onto the APM Register of Project Professionals. The register will demonstrate to users of project management services and the wider public those professionals who have met the standard for APM Registered Project Professional.
The wider public can be confident that their project management community has been externally assessed as competent and dedicated to their own continuing development. For employers, this visible investment in staff offers the benefit of raising the profile of project management as a driver for competitive advantage and improved project delivery.
Who should apply?
APM Registered Project Professional is available to anyone with experience of managing others in a complex project environment regardless of their professional background or qualifications.
The APM Registered Project Professional standard
APM Registered Project Professionals will demonstrate capability in 29 core competences and knowledge of 18 complementary competences.
To be recognised on the APM Register of Project Professionals candidates will also be required to maintain at least 35 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) per year and adhere to the APM Code of Professional Conduct through APM membership.
The assessment process
The assessment process by peer assessors comprises two stages:
- Portfolio assessment – the portfolio of evidence will demonstrate capability in 29 core competences and knowledge of 18 complementary competences.
- Professional review – having successfully completed the portfolio assessment, candidates will be invited to a professional review with two assessors. The review, in an interview format, will typically take around 45 minutes including a 10 minute candidate presentation at the start.
How much does it cost?
The APM fees are paid in instalments at the two stages of the assessment process and total £595 for existing APM members or £782 for non members exclusive of VAT. If you decide to proceed with the Edison RPP Mentoring programme, the fees for this service are £995 plus vat.
